Trust and association law is, and has been throughout the 100-year history of the law firm, one of our main business areas. Thus, several of PHILIP's lawyers have seats as members and chairmen of foundations' boards of directors, including in a number of business-operating foundations that control some of Denmark's very largest companies.

PHILIP provides consultancy for companies, estates and wealthy families in relation to establishment of foundations, including choice of jurisdiction, drawing up of instruments of foundation, selection of foundation boards etc. The law firm also handles the day-to-day administration and operation for many foundations, including consultancy in connection with investment of funds.

Foundations are established for many reasons. Often, tax or levy matters are part of the reason when a company or a family chooses to establish a foundation. In that connection, Philip works with some of the Denmark's most skilful tax specialists on ensuring the optimal consultancy regarding taxes. Particularly in relation to companies' establishment of foundations, there can be challenges in connection with protecting the foundation assets in connection with lawsuits. In that connection, Philip can provide assistance through the courtroom lawyers of the law firm.

Furthermore, the law firm provides consultancy in relation to establishment and operation of off-shore foundations and common law trusts.
